The Nintendo Switch 2 has finally been confirmed after a year of leaks, although there’s still a tonne of details left to be confirmed. With a new look, magnetic Joy-Con and confirmed backward compatibility, there’s already a tonne of excitement for the new Nintendo console.

However, after so many leaks ruined the surprise for many gamers, some developers have criticised the nature of leakers in the modern games industry. Bayonetta creator Hideaki Kamiya has criticised them more than most, claiming all leakers deserve to be “cursed” and “covered in sh*t”.

Hideaki Kamiya on Switch 2 leakers

In a roughly translated thread of tweets, Kamiya commented on the Switch 2 reveal, explaining that it ruined the element of surprise. After the heart-warming reveal of Okami 2 last year, which Kamiya is directing, the industry veteran wants every other developer to have that feeling as well.

“I hope that all of the people who leaked Switch 2 information/those who helped leak it will be cursed for the rest of their lives to always have poop on the soles of their shoes when they get home,” Kamiya told fans. “Now that I’ve enjoyed the surprise announcement of Okami with all the users, I truly believe that… all those damn leakers should be cursed.”

The Bayonetta creator explained that the “sh**ty leaker only acts for his own pleasure and self-satisfaction”, calling them the “worst scum”.

“He should be covered in s**t from head to toe and thrown out of the atmosphere… and then stop thinking and wander forever,” the game designer said.

Kamiya explained that leakers are in a “position of responsibility”, and their actions not only ruin surprises but hurt the feelings of those planning new projects. With fans of Nintendo blaming the company for waiting on its reveal following a year of Switch 2 leaks, Kamiya believes the leakers are doing more harm than good.

“What they do is nothing more than an expression of a filthy desire for approval that lacks a shred of rationality,” Kamiya said. “They are shameful people, so it is not the manufacturers whose secrets have been exposed who should be blamed, but these damn people, and they need to be crushed as soon as possible…”

Nintendo Switch 2 doesn’t have a release date, price or launch lineup at the time of writing. More information will be released in a Switch 2 focused Direct presentation on April 2, 2025. The leaker behind the majority of Switch 2 information has also revealed a possible PlayStation State of Play presentation next month.
