As Hellmire continues to be, well, hell for the best that Super Earth has to offer, Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead Game Studios may need to introduce a new stratagem for soldiers to combat those pesky fire tornadoes. Since this perpetually ablaze planet is a crucial area in the Mirin sector, it regularly gets included as part of new major orders. Naturally, this means running into those searing, whirling vortexes practically becomes mandatory every now and then.
Unfortunately, there’s currently no way to extinguish them, so Helldivers have no choice but to avoid them to the best of their abilities. But that’s easier said than done because you’ll have to fend off a constant stream of murderous bug hordes while doing so. Of course, this hasn’t stopped some players from pleading with the devs to introduce a new stratagem to get rid of these fire tornadoes. Luckily, the community has proposed a few feasible ideas that could potentially make their way onto AGS desks.
Reddit user wurlmon initially suggested a water-based stratagem that “extinguishes the surrounding area and destroys lighter Automaton units” called an Orbital Extinguishment Strike. With a one-second call-in time, a 90-second cooldown, and unlimited uses, this would undoubtedly make it easier to deal with fire tornadoes. However, its ability to eliminate bots would be completely useless on a Terminid-infested planet.
Other players, on the other hand, suggested that smoke should extinguish fire instead—an even more practical idea since the Helldivers 2 stratagem list already includes the Eagle Smoke Strike and the Orbital Smoke Strike. This would also give players incentive to equip two of the least used stratagems in the game since, let’s face it, your limited loadout slots mean you’re often better off equipping additional support weapons or a high-damage-dealing AOE call-in.
Of course, only time will tell if AGS entertains these ideas, as the developers are still on their “summer break.” So, while you wait for future updates, take a look at our pages on the best Helldivers 2 loadouts and the best ways to find and kill Bile Titans in Helldivers 2.
