After its massively successful launch, Helldivers 2 has seen its player count drastically dwindle over the past few weeks due to a lack of content. Of course, Arrowhead Game Studios continues to introduce more new features in an effort to appease its fan base. Although the developer has yet to reveal the next big addition, a recent Helldivers 2 leak has seemingly teased what it will be, and it may be a new mission type that tasks you with protecting the president of Super Earth.
At least, that’s according to two separate threads from Redditor NullPlays93541 (via another user called Irons1ghts). Their first post included a rough sketch of a “Presidential Mansion,” after which they said, “This is tied to a mission or [objective that] will act as a defense mission.” On the other hand, the latest details they shared included an image of the “possible presidential candidate model.” However, they also pointed out that it could be an early design for “the fleet admiral.”
Of course, following months of repeatedly fighting for Managed Democracy, Helldivers 2 players are predictably welcoming any news on upcoming content. After all, there’s only so many ICBM launches and civilian evacuations one can take before it takes a toll on their sanity. And if this latest leak is to be believed, it could help revitalize the dying embers of the once-great Super Earth battalion. But, like always, you’ll need to take this leak with a very generous helping of salt until the Helldivers 2 devs confirm it.
While you wait for possible confirmation on the leak and for the dev team to return from their “summer break,” check out this Helldivers 2 fan film, which proves that a possible TV adaptation could be a huge hit.
