Helldivers 2 gets discounted on the PlayStation Summer Sale ahead of the Escalation of Freedom update

The PlayStation Summer Sale is still ongoing and gamers have until August 14th to grab thousands of games at heavily discounted prices. One of the games on offer is Helldivers 2, Sony’s biggest selling game of 2024 which has exceeded well beyond 12 million sales on PC and PS5.

For those that haven’t checked out Helldivers 2 yet, it is a third-person shooter that can be played solo or up to 4-player co-op. Rather than having a campaign of set missions, the game sees players jump into individual missions to complete objectives that count toward Major Order events as players fight in the Galactic War, which plays out similar to a Dungeons and Dragons campaign as the outcome affects the story in real-time.

If you have yet to play Helldivers 2, now is a perfect time to grab it and dive into the Galactic War against the Automatons and Terminids, especially as the Escalation of Freedom update is set to launch on August 6th, followed by the Freedom’s Flame Warbond on August 8th.

Players can grab the Helldivers 2 Super Citizen Edition for £39.99, discounted from £49.99. In addition to the base game, which retails at £34.99, you will also receive the following items,

• ‘Will of the People’ Cape.
• ‘MP-98 Knight’ Weapon.
• Super Citizen Status.
• Stratagem Hero Ship Game.

For £5 extra this is a great deal. Premium Warbonds cost £7.99 which makes this worth it on its own, but you can also grind for the Super Credits by playing the game. This is a great helping hand to get you started and unlocking new weapons such as the Breaker Incendiary Shotgun for free. The included free cosmetics and armor sets are a great addition too, I still wear the Will of the People Cape so I’ve certainly gotten my money’s worth from purchasing the upgraded edition.

Unfortunately, PC players are out of luck as the discount only applies to the PlayStation Store. Surprisingly, Helldivers 2 has yet to go on sale on Steam, even during the recent Steam Summer Sale. However, PC players can grab a Steam key for as low as £24.49 from CDKeys, which I recommend if you want to save some money, this is where I purchased my copy so I can bring you daily coverage of the game.
