The Cyborgs are about to invade Helldivers 2. Although we only just got our first look at the returning faction, Arrowhead has now confirmed their release date, and it’s right around the corner. The update is expected to arrive at the game’s usual patch time, and to help you prepare for the war ahead, developer Arrowhead has shared details about some of the “disgusting” new enemies you will encounter on the battlefield.

Release date and expected time for when the Cyborgs will return in Helldiver 2

Arrowhead has confirmed that the release date for when Cyborgs will return to Helldivers 2 is February 10. No official release time has been announced as of this writing, but updates typically go live at 2AM PST / 5AM EDT / 10AM GMT, so you can reasonably expect the same timing. However, it could also drop closer to 7AM PST/ 10AM EDT/ 2PM GMT, which is when Warbonds typically drop.

The Cyborgs’ return was first teased at the end of January with the Siege Breakers Warbond trailer. Not to be confused with the Automatons, the Cyborgs are a faction from the original Helldivers. They were once human terrorists who “perverted their bodies with cybernetic augmentation”.

In the first game, the Cyborgs rebelled against the ideals of Super Earth in favor of socialism. They were eventually defeated, enslaved by Super Earth, and confined to their icy, desolate home planet of Cyberstan.

Interestingly, if you never experienced the original game, you may not know that the Cyborgs are responsible for creating the Automatons in Helldivers 2. The key difference between the factions is that Cyborgs were once human, rendered unrecognizable by extreme augmentations that drove them insane, while Automatons are fully mechanical, ruthless killing machines.

Leaks dating back to April 2025 pointed to the return of Cyberstan and the Cyborgs, so this invasion has been a long time coming. Fortunately, we don’t have to wait much longer to step up and scrap some metal.

New Cyborgs in Helldivers 2

To prepare you for the incoming conflict, Arrowhead has outlined several new Cyborg enemies arriving with the update. The Cyborgs are described as being “fueled by nothing but rage and socialism,” and one of the most dangerous new threats is the Agitator.

Agitators are described as “field commanders of the Automaton Legion” and are equipped with heavy armor. They are also labeled “disgusting” and can “take direct command over their Automaton underlings”.

Supporting them are the Radicals, who “represent a hundred years of contempt for democracy”. Radicals abandon heavy armor in favor of using their cybernetics and bio-enhancements to push their bodies to the brink. Armed with heavy shotguns and techno-martial arts, they specialize in getting up close and personal.

The final new enemy is the Vox Engine. These units wield “dual heavy laser cannons, a rocket array, and heavy Gatling lasers for flanking defense”. They patrol the battlefield while blasting out “delusional propaganda of Cyborg superiority”.

The return of the Cyborgs promises an intense new chapter for Helldivers 2. The game has sold over 20 million copies since its launch in February 2024, and as it celebrates its second anniversary, all of us across PlayStation, PC, and Xbox will need to band together to defeat this threat to democracy.
