As far as 2024 game releases go, Helldivers 2 is one of the best. Hell, it easily took the crown for Best Multiplayer in our Game of the Year Awards, and the arrival of the Illuminate only cemented that fact.

While Arrowhead aims to turn the game into Helldivers 3 with massive updates, the studio is also looking to the future. Revealed by Arrowhead COO Johan Pilestedt, the studio is officially starting planning for its next game, and fans are invited to help.

Helldivers 2 devs plan next game

In an announcement on Twitter, the Arrowhead COO confirmed that preliminary work on the studio’s next game is starting. While nothing is concrete, the COO is working on the “High Concept” proposal for their next game.

“With 10 minutes to 2025. What are your expectations and desires for what the next Arrowhead game will be?” Pilestedt asked fans. “I am working on the high concept, but I would love to hear your speculation.”

A High Concept pitch doesn’t mean anything concrete. In fact, after announcing the process had started, Pilestedt showed off numerous pitches that were never realised, including a Star Fox-style game in the Helldivers universe dubbed “Eagles of Democracy”.

Instead, a High Concept pitch is a short and concise idea that could eventually become a product. It’s the earliest possible step, but an important one, nonetheless.

While Arrowhead is looking to the future, that doesn’t mean Helldivers 2 is being left behind. For example, recent leaks have revealed plans for a Wildlife System to populate planets as well as a Weapons Attachment System to customise loadouts. It’s clear that Helldivers 2 has a huge future ahead, and players can’t wait to experience it.
