Arrowhead Game Studios is working on adding new “wildlife” to Helldivers 2 to spruce up the game’s dead planets. Allegedly a “very low priority” project, references to the new wildlife faction have been found in the game.
Helldivers 2 planets could see local wildlife
Currently in a very early state, renowned Helldivers 2 leaker IronS1ghts has discovered references to the new wildlife system in the game files. At the time of writing, the faction type for wildlife entities is functional and there are associated audio files for them, but it may be a long time until they are added to the game.
- In the game files, the following voice lines are included for players that find and encounter local fauna on a populated planet:
- “Local Fauna Identified, possible source for emergency rations”
- “Alien wildlife found. Assessment: adorable…”
- “Alien Wildlife Found”
- “Dangerous Wildlife”
Unlike cut content for the game, the Wildlife Faction system has not been marked as “REMOVED” in the game files. However, the leaker claims that updates to the game show no signs that the system is a priority for Arrowhead, especially compared to the constantly-updated Illuminate mission objectives.

“It seems a lot of stuff is getting placed on the back burner right now. While most of this isn’t exactly cut from development just yet, it is definitely very low priority,” the leaker told followers on social media.
After countless leaks for the Illuminate, Arrowhead has announced its plans to develop a content roadmap to stop over-promising and under-delivering to fans. However, the multiplayer game is a source of constant leaks for in-development content that may never actually release.
For example, potential events for the game have leaked before their official announcement including one that brings back planetary eclipses from the first Helldivers game. In their HD2 implementation, players will have to call down flares from the orbiting Super Destroyer to light their way.
