Arrowhead Game Studios’ Helldivers 2 is constantly evolving, and there’s a tonne of new content in the works. As the team reveals plans for additional crossovers and reworks for late-game progression, there’s a tonne of ideas currently in development that could end up being cut.
Alongside comments from official developers, the popular multiplayer co-op game also receives frequent and extremely revealing leaks. In a recent discussion with fans, Arrowhead CEO Shams Jorjani discussed the game’s constant leaks as they can spoil surprises for the community.
Helldivers 2 CEO on constant leaks
Speaking to fans on the official Helldivers 2 Discord server, Arrowhead CEO Shams Jorjani was asked about the game’s frequent leaks. With the Meridian Singularity storyline leaked prior to release and entirely new mechanics showed off, Jorjani believes the leaks aren’t “fun for the community”.
“I know that many don’t like spoilers and we try to surprise and delight with the stuff we have,” Jorjani told fans in the Discord server. “Reality is stuff gets data mined which is a bummer but not the end of the world. I think generally speaking we don’t think it’s fun for the community as a whole that unreleased stuff gets spoiled.”
Of course, any datamined content should always be taken with a grain of salt. While content is always in the works for live-service games like HD2, there’s always a possibility that mechanics, storylines and enemies could be dropped during development.
While Arrowhead’s take on weapon customisation has leaked—and has also been discussed by devs—there is a possibility that the current version of the system could be very different by the time we see it in-game.
