Helldivers 2 ended 2024 with a bang by briefly introducing the Illuminate, as well as by bringing beloved PlayStation IP, Killzone, back from the dead. This was HD2’s first collaboration, and ever since Arrowhead has teased more. Arrowhead has confirmed the next Helldivers 2 crossover is officially in the works, and there is the possibility it might have already leaked.
Next Helldivers 2 crossover is in “very early stages”
On Discord, Helldivers 2 developer, Sephez, was asked “if any future crossover events are planned”. The user also said, “drg would be cool,” referring to Deep Rock Galactic. Sephez replied, “We’re in the very early stages of something new”.
Unfortunately, there’s no more elaboration from Sephez beyond confirming a new collaboration is in “very early” development. While nothing is official, it’s possible the next crossover, or possibly another collaboration, could be with Warhammer 40K.
Arrowhead’s CEO, Shams Jorjani, has previously said Games Workshop would love to crossover with HD2, but, more importantly, Iron_S1ghts previously leaked a melee weapon. The silhouette of this melee weapon massively resembles the iconic Chainsword from Warhammer 40K, so it could possibly be a weapon for a Warhammer Warbond, or it could be an original design massively inspired by Warhammer.
While Warhammer is a possible crossover for next or even further into the future, there are other possible IPs. Back to DRG, the Deep Rock Galactic developer has teased the possibility of a collaboration with HD2. Arrowhead CEO, Jorjani, and CCO, Pilestedt, have also both listed Alien amongst the list of sci-fi IPs they would want to crossover with.
Collaborations are exciting, but fans needn’t worry about the game turning into Fortnite or Call of Duty as crossovers won’t become too frequent, and Arrowhead has stated they will only happen if they fit HD2’s aesthetic. Potential crossovers rejected by Arrowhead include Star Wars as well as Destiny 2.
