Sony Computer Entertainment and Quantic Dream’s Heavy Rain left last night’s GAME British Academy Video Games Awards with the BAFTAs for Original Music, Technical Innovation and Story.
The acclaimed thriller might have been the big winner of the night, but it was BioWare’s Mass Effect 2 which took Best Game.
Elsewhere Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood was awarded the BAFTA for Action and Civilization won in the Strategy category. Kinect Sports won the Family BAFTA, Super Mario Galaxy 2 took home the Gameplay gong and Cut the Rope claimed a well deserved Handheld BAFTA.
Sports went to F1 2010, best Multiplayer was snapped up by NFS Hot Pursuit, Use of Audio to Bad Company 2 and Artistic Achievement was claimed by God of War III.
The night also saw Sir Ben Kingsley present the Fellowship, the highest honour that the Academy can bestow, to Peter Molyneux, creator of Fable, Black & White, Populous and many others.
The GAME Award of 2010, the only award at the ceremony voted for by the public, was won by Call of Duty: Black Ops – the third year the Call of Duty franchise has picked up this award.
