Square Enix has unveiled Harvestella, a new life simulation RPG with a fantasy setting coming in November.

In Harvestella‘s world, seasons are controlled by four magical crystals called the Seaslight. However, these crystals have of late started developing “abnormalities”. This in turn has created an event called the ‘Quietus’ – a season where death is the prevailing weather. Crops are withering and dying, and monsters plague the outdoors, forcing people to stay in their homes for safety. Even worse, these Quietus seasons are getting longer, and more frequent.

That means it falls to you, who starts off as a humble farmer-slash-adventurer, to find out what’s going on. To start off you’ll be growing and caring for crops and helping them grow. You’ll turn these crops into ingredients, which you’ll use to cook and craft items which you can use as you head into the overworld. Think Stardew Valley meets Final Fantasy, and you’re on the right track.

The overworld, of course, will change depending on the seasons. You’ll visit various towns, interact with a host of different characters and get to do different tasks like fishing and more. Furthermore, you’ll also pick job roles like Fighter, Mage and Shadow Walker and explore dangerous dungeons with a party. Fighting your way through these will, hopefully, lead you to the answers of what’s corrupted the Seaslight.

Harvestella arrives on Nintendo Switch and PC on November 4, 2022 and in the meantime you can check out the game’s reveal trailer below.
