Blackbird Interactive & Focus Entertainment have announced that Hardspace: Shipbreaker is ready to leave early access and launch next month.

The game, originally revealed in 2020, puts you in the space-boots of a titular Shipbreaker. Your job is to explore and salvage valuable materials and whatever else you can find from decommissioned spaceships. In doing so, you’ll be able to sell some of what you find, but also use it to upgrade your tools and equipment, allowing you to take on more lucrative contracts.

You’ve got four different types of tool to use, including a cutter, laser, grapple tool and demo charges. You’ll also have to keep these tools in good condition and well maintained. Ships range in size from tiny Mackerels that transport people between stations, to huge industrial vessels known as Javelins. Each one is procedurally generated, so you should rarely find yourself exploring the same ship twice.

There’s a full 30-hour campaign too, where you’ll meet fellow Shipbreakers and have to deal with interplanetary megacorporation Lynx. You’ll be working to become a master Shipbreaker, keeping an eye out for many space hazards including rogue AI. You can check out a trailer for the game for yourself down below.

Hardspace: Shipbreaker leaves early access and launches in full on May 24 for PC on Steam and the Windows Store. It’ll also be available from Day One via PC Game Pass (fka Xbox Game Pass for PC.) A console release is also planned for a later, to be announced, date.
