Those of you who haven’t sampled Master Chief’s latest outing can give Halo 5: Guardians a spin for free this weekend, providing you are a member of Xbox LIVE Gold (and let’s face it, who isn’t these days?). The alien shooter is enjoying a free trial from today until Sunday, January 14 at 10.59pm PST.

During this time you’ll be able to test drive Halo 5’s campaign in both single-player and cooperative flavors. In addition, Microsoft is also running a 20 percent discount off the full version of 343 Industries’ latest effort if you fancy taking the plunge.

If the story mode isn’t your cup of tea, then you can instead plump for the multiplayer taster during the free trial, specifically the Arena and Warzone modes. Not only that, but if you do drop some cash on the full game you’ll be able to transfer all your Achievements and progress across too.

Those of you who still can’t make up theirs minds about Halo 5: Guardians would do well to read our review of the shooter to see how 343 is doing carrying on Bungie’s legacy. Oh, and if you’re itching to get your mitts on the sequel you may not want to hold your breath for a 2018 release. Sad face.Â
