Many gamers populating internet gaming forums are claiming to have purchased Half Life 2, meaning some retailers have once again broken a release date. However, it appears that people who try and register their game online (it appears validation with Steam is essential) are finding that they are having no luck.
It is unclear if attempting to register the game early will have any affect on registering it in the future. Rumours of banning users who attempt to register early are flooding forums, but such a response from Valve would seem overly harsh; these people have after all bought the game.
