After months of speculation, this years most anticipated PC game has finally gone gold. On November 16th, 2004, PC owners will be able to get hold of one of the longest awaited games ever when Vivendi Universal Games and Valve finally let Half Life 2 loose to the public.

The game has been pre-loading on Valves Steam service for a few months, but with no announcement of the games release, a 2005 release had become a possibility. That fear is no more as the game is officially scheduled for release on November 16th 2004. The UK release will probably be a few days later to correspond with the usual Friday release of new games.

The game will be available as either a normal version including Counterstrike: Source or as a collectors edition which will include Half Life 2 in DVD-ROM format, Counterstrike: Source, Half Life: Source, a free limited edition t-shirt, and a Half Life 2 Prima strategy guide book.

Bruce Hack, CEO of VU Games, said: “Half-Life 2 will go down as one of the best-selling PC titles, and we are thrilled to deliver this ground-breaking title to the worldwide gaming community this fall.”

We’d bloody well hope so. Roll on November!
