Rockstar Games has unleashed the latest update for Grand Theft Auto Online this afternoon, offering up a new game mode as part of the ongoing Southern San Andreas Super Sport Series.

Target Assault Races sees two teams hopping into the seat of various weaponized vehicles, with one player in the driver’s seat and the other handling the firepower. Drivers must evade obstacles and get their partner through in one piece, while the guy with his finger on the trigger, obviously, has to make short work of any targets in the area.

Once a lap is completed you’ll switch positions, and the team with the most points takes the winner’s crown. GTA Online’s latest vehicle, the Vapid Caracara, arrives on the scene as part of the update and is perfectly suited to Target Assault, and can be snapped up exclusively at Warstock Cache & Carry.

‘Finishing laps in the top three and passing through Checkpoints ahead of your opponents will earn you bonus points, but accuracy is the name of the game here. You’ll score more points for smaller targets, and even more for hitting them dead center. Scatter-shooters may feast on large green targets, but if you’re racking up bullseyes on the elusive small red target, you’ll soon eclipse them on the leaderboard,’ says Rockstar.

Speaking of Warstock Cache & Carry, the business is offering up a range of discounts on Assault Vehicles and Vehicle Upgrades from today until next Tuesday. Meanwhile, this week’s Premium Race is Lift Off while the Time Trial sees you tackling the Observatory.

GTA Online has remained a huge money-maker for publisher Take-Two Interactive since it rolled out in October 2013, so much so that Rockstar decided to bin its planned single-player downloadable content for Grand Theft Auto 5.
