Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto V will sell 14 million copies at launch, predicts Sterne Agee analyst Arvind Bhatia.

To put that figure into context, 2008’s Grand Theft Auto IV shifted 13 million copies during its first year.

Sales of 14 million would represent revenue of approximately $700 million for Rockstar, which only last week predicted FY13 revenues could reach a huge $1.85 billion – a figure which suggests GTA 5 will appear before the end of March 2013.

Whilst 14 million sales sounds unlikely, it’s worth remembering that when GTA 4 hit stores in 2008 the install bases for both the PS3 and Xbox 360 were vastly smaller than they are today.
