GTA 5 is set to break the UK video game sales record, with retailers allocated a huge 3 million copies for day one, a retail source has told CVG.
Retail stock of three million units gives Rockstar’s sequel the ability to easily eclipse UK launch sales of Activision’s Black Ops 2, which shifted a huge 1.4 million copies in a single day.
Grand Theft Auto 4 only managed a comparatively feeble 630,000 copies during its first 24 hours, but remember that the PS3 and Xbox 360 user base was smaller back in 2008.
Rockstar is yet to comment.
GTA 5 will launch on September 17 for Xbox 360 and PS3.
Three million copies available for launch is a staggering figure, but we can’t imagine the game will actually sell out.
