A fan petition aimed at convincing Rockstar Games to release Grand Theft Auto 5 on PC has now reached 46,000 signatures, almost half its target of 100,000.

The petition reads: “Please release GTA V on PC. GTA games have been a large part of so many peoples lives and it’s a big shame not seeing the newest iteration of the game being released on the most powerful platform. Things like modifications have always been a HUGE part of PC gaming and modded GTA is some of the most insanely fun times you can have.

“I hope you consider the release of GTA V on PC as it’ll make many people very happy!”

GTA 5 is currently only confirmed for a spring 2013 release on Xbox 360 and PS3, but Rockstar boss Dan Houser has said other platforms are “up for consideration”.

GTA 4 launched on PC after the home console versions, so missing day one is not a sign it won’t eventually arrive.
