2017 is shaping up to be a great year for video games, and now looks set to be even better with news that the entire Liberty City is being converted for use in GTA 5 by mod team OpenIV.

“Today we are proud to announce the project we worked on since initial GTA V release. Liberty City is finally coming into GTA V in all its glory,” announced the modding crew.

“The Liberty City will not replace Los Santos or Blaine County, but appears across the sea. Using the power of OpenIV and openFormats, we was able to bring Liberty City right into GTA V map,” added the announcement blog.

To access Liberty City you’ll need a copy of GTA IV, from which a converter tool will extract and convert the game world for use in GTA 5. The tool will create a single player Liberty City DLC pack which will be installed in GTA 5.

There’s currently no word on a release date, but we’re hoping it won’t be too far away.
