A PC version of Grand Theft Auto 5 will release in “the first quarter of 2014”, Eurogamer reports.
The site claims that “multiple industry sources” have indicated a PC release for the open world title early next year, although Rockstar has yet to formally confirm any additional versions beyond Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
A PC port could also mean that the game launches on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, although Eurogamer’s report makes no mention of any next-gen versions.
In response to Eurogamer’s report, Rockstar pointed the site in the direction of an answer it gave about the possibility of a PC release earlier this year, which said:
“The only versions of the game that we have announced are for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 which are set for a September 17th worldwide release. We don’t have anything to share about the possibility of a next-gen or a PC platform release at this time and we are completely focused on delivering the best possible experience for the consoles people have right now.”
A PC release has previously been hinted at by Nvidia which, back in August, said that “gamers are preparing their systems for a strong roster of games coming this fall, including blockbuster franchises, such as Call of Duty: Ghosts, Grand Theft Auto 5 and Assassin’s Creed 4.”
It later claimed that GTA 5 was mentioned in error.
GTA 5 launched on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 last month.
