Halo 4 will launch with a playlist for manic community Grifball, 343 Industries has announced during a panel at PAX Prime.

Grifball, which previously appeared in Halo 3 and Halo: Reach, is a game mode where two teams of three or four square off to take a ball in the center of the court to the other team’s goal. Player health is set to 10% and weapon damage is set to 200%, and everyone spawns with a Gravity Hammer and Energy Sword. As you can imagine, it is quite hectic.

Tactical play comes from weapon choice. The Gravity Hammer is bulky and powerful, but smacking the grifball carrier with it causes the ball to go flying off in a random direction. The Energy Sword, however, is harder to wield but causes the ball to go straight into the hands of the killer.

These cheeky weapon rules have also been applied to Oddball, which first popped up in Halo: Reach.

343 Industries also announced that the flag carrier in CTF will also get to carry a magnum in their off-hand.

Halo 4 will be released for Xbox 360 on November 6.
