NCsoft has announced that this April’s release of free City of Heroes update, Issue 17: Dark Mirror, will feature a suped up graphics mode making Paragon City and the Rogue Isles more pleasing to look at.

Ultra Mode dramatically improves the game’s lighting, shadows, reflections and water effects, and proving you have the PC to handle it, the improvements are huge. NCsoft also notes that the upcoming Going Rogue expansion pack will feature even greater graphics, since new game area Praetoria was developed from the ground up with Ultra Mode in mind.

Issue 17 isn’t just about the visuals; the update will also feature:

– New badges, new missions and new player emotes

– Epic Archetypes now available at level 20

– Improvements and additions to Mission Architect

– Enhancements to UI and game systems

– And more
