Polyphony Digital has released a pair of new videos for Gran Turismo 7, comparing one of the game’s courses with its real life counterpart.

The series has long sported the tagline “The Real Driving Simulator”, but this time the team is going one step further to prove it.  They’ve pitted real professional driver Dai Yoshihara against Gran Turismo superfan Steve Brown against each other. Together, they’re comparing a real world circuit to one featured in the game ahead of its release next month.

Specifically, they’ve headed to the real-world Willow Springs International Raceway in Los Angeles. The course, also known as Big Willow, is the oldest permanent road coast in the US, being around since 1953. More recently, it was the home of the FIA GT Championships in 2021.

Yoshihara pilots a race-prepped Evasive Motorsports Tesla Model 3 Performance vehicle, while Brown is driving a modified Tesla Model S. As the video continues, try and spot the difference between the real-world footage and the gorgeous PlayStation 5 visuals. If you want more of a direct comparison, a second video of just the footage side-by-side is also below.

The Big Willow circuit will join plenty of other tracks, including the Daytona International Circuit and the Deep Forest Raceway, when the game launches next month. Gran Turismo 7 is set to arrive on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 on March 4, 2022.
