The delayed Gran Turismo 5 appears to be making its final steps towards release, after series creator Kazunori Yamauchi revealed to racing blog Jalopnik that the game is now “being stamped”.
Last month Sony announced a worldwide delay for the racing game, and while wouldn’t pin down a new release date it did confirm a pre-Christmas launch.
Speaking in response to questions on the game’s release, Yamauchi said: “The discs are being stamped as we speak.”
He also made a disc-stamping motion with his hands.
The discs are being manufactured, but this doesn’t guarantee the game’s release worldwide before Christmas. Gran Turismo 5 is expected to sell millions of copies and this level of stock doesn’t get produced overnight.
However, it does appear likely the game will make Sony’s pre-Christmas claim, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see some stock shortages.
