God of War has been out for almost a year now, but that hasn't stopped it from chalking up yet another award. This week, the acclaimed limb-ripping daddy simulator walked home with the Game of the Year gong at the Game Developers Choice Awards 2019.

Sony Santa Monica's latest title is no stranger to winning awards. It won Game of the Year at both the Game Awards and DICE Awards, not to mention becoming one of PS4's best-selling titles to date.

It's not all about God of War, though, boy. Amy Hennig, the former creative lead behind the Uncharted franchised, scooped the Lifetime Achievement Award at GDC, while Celeste walked home with Best Audio and Red Dead Redemption 2 earned Best Technology.

'The Game Developers Choice Awards represent the most refined games of the year, and the sheer variety of games honored tonight showed that games can still represent wholly new and unique creative visions,' commented Katie Stern, GDC's general manager.
