God of War has nabbed its fifth consecutive week on the UK All Format Chart, meaning it's just one week away from matching — and potentially surpassing — the record set by fellow PlayStation-exclusive title The Last of Us.

Kratos' Norse-flavoured bloodbath debuted on April 20 for PS4, yet hasn't been troubled by anything else during that time.

Chart-Track notes that it's now eyeing the record set by The Last of Us, which managed six consecutive weeks at the top spot back in summer 2013.

Right now it's entirely possible it could match the success of Naughty Dog's post-apocalyptic buddy adventure, although the likes of Detroit: Become Human will probably have something to say about that when it launches on May 25.

God of War recorded the second-biggest launch of the year so far behind Far Cry 5, and gave the series its best ever launch week sales to boot.

Plus, you can now take funny-looking Kratos selfies to your heart's content. What's not to love?
