PlayStation 4-exclusive monster eviscerating simulator God of War has debuted at the top of the UK All Format Chart, recording the second biggest week one sales of the year behind only Far Cry 5.
Not only that, but the SIE Santa Monica Studio-developed title also bagged the series' best launch week sales to date, beating the previous record held by 2010's God of War 3 on PlayStation 3. It's no surprise either; God of War has received overwhelmingly positive reviews from critics (psst, make sure you read VideoGamer's verdict), and is arguably one of the best games to come out this generation.
Elsewhere, Sega's Yakuza 6 managed to debut in third place, which again is a record for that particular franchise. Traditionally the Yakuza games don't really sell all that great in western territories, so a third place debut for the game — which is also exclusive to a single platform, in this case PS4 — is definititely a significant milestone.
