God of War is unequivocally one of the prettiest PlayStation 4 games on the horizon, but Sony has confirmed you won’t necessarily need to splash out too much cash to get the most out of the title.

Speaking on Twitter, the game’s director, Cory Barlog, revealed that those of you who own a PS4 Pro will still be able to squeeze a little more eye candy out of the upcoming action-adventure title even if you don’t own a 4K TV. This is all down to God of War’s performance mode apparently, which ensures Kratos’ rippling muscles and epic dad beard will still look the business on a regular telly.

God of War is due out exclusively for PlayStation 4 on April 20. Barlog previously suggested that future games will stick with the Norse mythology setting, and will likely include Kratos’ son Atreus. And, while video game reboots have been quite a thing in recent years, taking God of War back to the drawing board was never an option.
