Futuristic PC shooter Ghost in the Shell: First Assault has entered open beta, Nexon has announced. You can give it a go by downloading it from Steam or via the Nexon Launcher.

The shooter has been playable in closed beta since last October, but – with the exception of a free weekend back in April – today marks the first time it’s been opened up to all players free of charge. Players had previously been required to purchase an early access pack, which ranged in price from $4.99 to $29.99.

“Our team are dedicated fans of ‘The Ghost in the Shell’ franchise, and it’s important to us to bring this engaging world to life as an exciting sci-fi FPS in a way that will appeal to both established fans and newcomers to the IP,” said lead director Jung Eik Choi.

“Maintaining open communication with our community in the Early Access phase allowed us to improve many aspects of First Assault, including game experience, maps, modes, controls and more. We are so appreciative of the players who have been part of the journey so far, and are looking forward to sharing this truly collaborative effort with a wider audience in open beta.”

First Assault is a tactical squad-based shooter set in the year 2030 that sees players ridding Japan’s streets of terrorists. You can check out what it looks like in the trailer below.
