Action RPG Genshin Impact is gearing up for its next big patch later this month, in the form of update 3.0.

The new update’s already been teased by developer HoYoverse over the past few weeks, promising a new region and an entirely new element – Dendro.

Here’s what we know about Genshin Impact update 3.0 so far.

Genshin Impact update 3.0 – release date, new region and element

Over the weekend, HoYoverse confirmed that the new update will land on August 24.

We know for certain that the new update will bring with it a brand new region, known as Sumeru. First teased in a video back in July, the new area lies to the West of Liyue.

According to Genshin Impact leaks Twitter account Genshin_Intel, the new area will include a Roaming the Jungle event.

In it, you’ll have to take certain photos, kill mob camps and resin bosses and seven parkour trails. You’ll also get to build wooden statues in the Metamorphosis of Wood activity.

Each new update usually brings with it new characters too. According to regular leaker UBAtcha on Twitter, the new update will include several new additions, including Tighnari (five stars), Zhongli and Collei, who’ll be rated 4 stars.

There’s also Dori, an elusive merchant who uses a Claymore weapon. She’ll have the ability to restore HP and energy for nearby team members.

They’re associated with the new Dendro element. The last of the game’s seven-element system, this new element can trigger three reactions. These can be combined with other elements, to make further reactions.

What happened to Genshin update 2.9?

There was confirmation that HoYoverse would be not release update 2.9 and jump straight to 3.0. This is similar to a previous update in Genshin, which went from 1.6 straight to 2.0.
