The Coalition has added four new characters to Gears 5 multiplayer modes: the COG Gear, the DeeBee, the Warden, and General RAAM (via Xbox Wire).

One month on from its launch, The Coalition is rolling out the Operation 1 Title Update which brings a host of game fixes and changes as well as four new characters to play as. The COG Gear, the DeeBee, the Warden, and General RAAM are available now and are unlockable through gameplay or by purchasing them in the in-game store.

In addition, the Terminator model Rev-9 and Grace will be coming to the game to drum up hype for Terminator Dark Fate, which releases in November. They’re joining the previously released T-800 Endoskeleton and Sarah, even though I don’t remember Skynet and the Locusts arm-in-arm at any point in the Gears series. But honestly, if Dave Batista can be an unlockable skin in Gears 5, they can put whoever they like in there. I might lobby for Piglet from Winnie the Pooh next.

So, the COG Soldier and DeeBee are the heroes and the Warden and General RAAM are the villains. Just like Kait, J.D., Fahz, and Jack, these additions have their own unique abilities. In Horde and Escape modes, the COG Soldier is able to revive themselves and downed allies instantly, acting as a support class. The Warden is a formidable foe due to its X-ray passive and powerful arcade loadout of Lancer, Talon, and Smoke.

Because DeeBee units are used in the PvE modes, it doesn’t receive an ultimate, but shares its X-ray vision passive with Fahz. General Raam’s arcade passive is titled ‘Bullets for Blood’, which is so metal. This will generate active reload ammo with each elimination. And, players who achieved Gilded General RAAM through the Road to Gears 5 Challenges will automatically unlock him in the arcade.

The quartet are unlockable through gameplay or available for purchase for 500 Iron each. Grace and Rev-9 Terminator Dark Fate are bundled as a character pack for $19.99, and Sarah and the T-800 Endoskeleton are on sale for the same price.
