The Coalition showed off Gears 5's Horde mode during the Inside Xbox presentation at Gamescom and the main takeaway is that each character will have Ultimates.

So, all of the standard stuff is here: wave after wave of enemies, build fortifications to keep them at bay, blahdy blah. But, now, like hero shooters, you'll have a different special ability depending on who you're playing as, which can be used once you build up your Ultimate meter.

J.D. is able to call in an airstrike, Fahz has x-ray vision and see enemies through walls, Kait has a cloak ability to turn invisible, and Jack's hijack ability can be used to get enemies to turn on one another. You can see it in action in the trailer below.

Gears 5 is out September 10 on Xbox One and PC, but if you're a Game Pass Ultimate subscriber you can play it from September 6.
