Garden Story is a top-down pixel art R.P.G., which first released on Switch and PC last year, and it is on its way to Xbox Game Pass this week.

The game is out tomorrow, July 12th, and there is a new trailer for it, showcasing its cutesy style. Check out the trailer below:

The description reads:

“Embark on a wholesome adventure to save The Grove! Forage resources, combat the invasive Rot, and restore the community. Relax and enjoy the fruits of your labor in this charming action-RPG starring a grape.”

The game stars a grape, who explores a large world. I don’t know what this grape’s problem is, but it’s keen to galivant all over the place. From Spring Hamlet, Winter Glade, Autumn Town, and Summer Bar settlements, this fellow knows to bounds.

Garden Story features fetch quests, little errands like repairing a bridge, battles of course, and whatever else entails simply being a grape. There are—it should go without saying—dungeons in the game. But it remains to be seen if the grape harbours any wrath.

It reminds me, in a way, of Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion, another game with its head in the garden. That was more a Zelda-like than it was a traditional R.P.G. But he was a turnip, and he did commit tax evasion.
