Gamescom appears to be considering moving from its traditional August date, according to an exhibitor survey handed out at this year’s event.

The survey asks: “If you had the choice: Which time would you prefer for the gamescom in consideration of your aims at this fair?”

Options include: August, June/July, October, and to split gamescom into two separate fairs (trade in June/July and consumers in October).

Gamescom’s close proximity to E3 does cause problems. Given that studios are typically in the final stages of pushing their products out the door come August, preparing a new demo takes time and resources many simply don’t have.

It makes sense to look at whether moving the convention to earlier or later in the year would be of interest to exhibitors.
