The UK’s largest specialist video game retailer has confirmed to Pro-G that it will not follow rival retailer Argos’ lead and break the Halo 3 street date.
There was some concern that the Argos administration error would spark a retailer scramble to get the game, which some consider the most hotly anticipated game ever, into the hands of the gaming public before the official release date of 26 September.
However, a GAME rep told Pro-G: “GAME has big nationwide plans for the launch of Halo 3 from 12am on 26th September and we will be firmly sticking to these plans to give customers the launch they are eagerly awaiting.“
Internet reports suggest Gamestation, which was recently taken over by GAME, will open over 190 stores at midnight next week for the game’s release.
It remains to be seen whether other retailers will be quite so loyal to Microsoft’s launch plans for the Xbox 360 FPS. We’ll let you know about other retailers’ plans for Halo 3 as we do.
