The Xbox 360 version of classic arcade shooter Galaga is now backward compatible with Xbox One, Microsoft has announced.

If you’ve previously bought the game on Xbox 360 you’ll be able to download it free of charge by heading to the Ready To Install section on your Xbox One. Alternatively you can download it for £3.39 by heading over to Xbox.com.

Galaga first hit the arcades in 1981 before making its way to Xbox Live Arcade in 2010 and sees players fighting against waves of aliens.

Microsoft announced a policy change to its backwards compatibility program last month, confirming that it would now be adding titles to the service as they are ready, rather than holding them back for monthly roll-outs.

Future backwards compatible titles are due to include Call of Duty: Black Ops, BioShock Infinite, Burnout Paradise, Hitman Absolution, Alan Wake and Red Dead Redemption.
