Silicon Knights’ Too Human technology means it is “definitely possible” to support four-player co-op play in the next two games in the planned trilogy, outspoken developer Denis Dyack has said.

Speaking to VideoGamer.com in an interview published here, Dyack said the only reason the first game doesn’t support four-player co-op play is because the team felt it was “better to offer a really fantastic two-player experience than a mediocre four-player experience”.

Too Human, due out exclusively for the Xbox 360 next Friday, has been in development for nearly a decade, suffering a game engine re-write and negative hype on internet forums.

When asked if it was possible for four-player co-op to appear in the next two planned Too Human games, Dyack replied: “Oh no. It’s definitely possible to go up more players as time goes on. I don’t want to make a specific announcement but the technology obviously supports more than two.

“It was a balancing issue and a quality issue that we wanted to make sure the game played the best it could with multiplayer first. We felt it was better to offer a really fantastic two-player experience than a mediocre four-player experience. So that’s what we went for.”
