Xbox’s recent PlayStation 5 port of its four-year-old open-world racing game Forza Horizon 5 is the highest-selling game of 2025 on Sony’s console.

According to video game tracking and analytics firm Alinea Analytics, the Playground Games developed racing game has already sold more than 3 million copies on PS5 hardware since its release in April.

Forza Horizon 5 is PS5’s biggest seller

The analytics firm revealed that Forza Horizon 5 has managed to sell almost half of the game’s PC copies in two months. Over the last four years, FH5 has sold 6.5 million copies across Steam and Xbox PC.

Unfortunately, it’s harder to track the sales of the game on Xbox One and Xbox Series X. The cross-gen racer has boasted 45.5 million players across the consoles, but that player count appears to be very heavily supplemented by Xbox Game Pass players.

Forza’s PlayStation debut has been so popular that it’s even outsold Monster Hunter Wilds, the most recent entry in a long-running PlayStation-associated franchise, on PS5. The racer has even sold more than Elden Ring Nightreign, the multiplayer co-op spin-off of FromSoftware’s popular action game which sits at 1.4 million copies.

Forza Horizon 5 is just a part of Xbox’s big multi-platform initiative to bring its first party games to more platforms. While titles such as Starfield are still locked to Xbox consoles, PlayStation is receiving the new remastered version of the original Gears of War, and even the upcoming Halo: Combat Evolved Remake is seemingly targeting PlayStation 5. However, it’s not known if the remake will release on PlayStation day and date with the Xbox version.

Microsoft has also expressed a desire to bring its first party suite of titles to Nintendo Switch 2, the latest handheld console from Nintendo. Unfortunately, no Switch 2 releases have been confirmed at the time of writing, and even Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is skipping the system.

The next Xbox first party release on PlayStation 5 is Gears of War: Reloaded in April. Afterwards, Obsidian Entertainment’s The Outer Worlds 2 will grace the system with its newly-reduced price after weeks of (rightful) fan complaints.
