As part of Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision-Blizzard, Call of Duty is required to come to Nintendo Switch 2 in some capacity. Unfortunately, this year’s release of Black Ops 7 is skipping the new handheld, despite releasing on the less powerful Xbox One and PS4.

Despite this, Call of Duty developers are adamant that the team is “committed” to bringing the popular FPS series to the Nintendo Switch 2. However, there’s no details on which CoD titles are coming to the new device.

Call of Duty devs are comitted to Switch 2 support

Speaking to Eurogamer, a source working on the FPS franchise explained that there are plans to bring some form of CoD to the new handheld. According to the source, multiple teams are working on future CoD titles for Nintendo Switch 2, likely meaning that the 2026 and 2027 entries in the annual series will have a Switch 2 port.

“We’re committed to getting the franchise on Switch,” the source told the outlet. “Both teams [are] working on it. Will share details when ready.”

Judging by the agreement between Microsoft and the FTC, the Nintendo Switch 2 version of the next Call of Duty games will be full releases. In order to acquire Activision-Blizzard, Microsoft agreed to bring the series to Nintendo platforms on “the same day as Xbox, with full feature and content parity”.

The next entry in the Call of Duty series is expected to be another entry in the Modern Warfare series. According to leakers, Modern Warfare 4 will be largely set across South and North Korea, the first time the region has appeared in the series since 2014’s Advanced Warfare.

Following the truly atrocious Modern Warfare 3 campaign, the 2026 entry is expected to have a much improved single-player portion. There’s no word on whether the game will also include a new Zombies mode.

With the CoD franchise coming to Nintendo Switch 2 with feature parity, there should also be a port of Warzone, the series’ free-to-play battle royale entry, in the near future as well.
