Fortnite has announced the start date of its upcoming Summer Escape event, which will be kicking off in the battle royale shooter next month.

While there’s not been too much revealed from official sources just yet, Fortnite data miners have found a number of references in the game to a seasonal event, including ‘Mural’ and ‘Propping’ categories “with free rewards” according to prominent leaker HypeX. They also claim that Epic Game has been working on a Surfboard v2 vehicle, leading many fans to hope that surfing will be another aspect added in the upcoming update.

One thing we do know for certain now though, is the Summer Escape Start Date, as the game’s official patch notes tease that the event will kick off from July 4, 2023 at 9am ET. Presumably, Epic will be revealing more about the event in the coming days ahead of its launch.

In the meantime, the 25.11 update drops today, and includes a brand new Explosive Repeater Rifle. Unlike the traditional rifle, which requires precision, the explosive variant will allow you to cause some splash damage, meaning it’s great for flushing out players hiding in the scenery. To offset the new weapon, however, the Heavy Sniper Rifle has been vaulted for the time being.

Elsewhere in today’s update are two new Augments in the form of Heavy Headshots, giving any weapons that use heavy ammo get a massive buff to headshots and Heavy Ammo Acquired to give those same weapons a boost of heavy ammo and even more to be picked up in subsequent containers you open. Finally, there’s a major bug fix, that fixes an issue where victory crowns weren’t showing up in player’s inventories.

The Fortnite Update 25.11 is available now. Elsewhere in Fortnite, players were recently asking for a new twist on its popular Zero Build mode, as well as welcoming Ciri and Yennifer from The Witcher.
