Epic Games just released a significant Fortnite balance update, bringing numerous nerfs and a buff. The nerf affects five items in the current loot pool. Considering that the update brought substantial changes, it will change the meta and force players to adapt their playstyle.
In this article, we will list all the changes that arrived with the update. If your favorite item was nerfed, you’ll be able to see how much its effectiveness has been reduced.
The latest Fortnite update brought numerous nerfs
The latest hotfix update in Fortnite went live on Monday night. Epic Games used it to reduce the power of several items that had dominated the season in its first few days. In total, two weapons have been nerfed, one utility item, and two medallions.
This is a list of all the changes:
Item | Effect |
---|---|
Wrecker Revolver | Mid & long range damage nerfed by 4% Max range reduced by 30–50% Headshot damage nerfed by 10 “Double Pump” effect removed |
Shockwave Grenade | Spawn chance nerfed by 33% |
Swarmstrike Launcher | Radius nerfed by 15% |
Springleg Medallion | Jump nerfed by 27% Energy cost increased by 50% |
Surge Medallion | Movement boost nerfed by 8% Slide boost nerfed by 50% |
Interestingly, the only weapon that was buffed with the update is Leadspitter 3000. The new minigun now has less recoil, which makes it more accurate at hitting targets. As a result, we expect this weapon to dominate the meta over the following weeks.
Finally, Epic Games increased the progress in O.X.R. Ranks. Players will now rank up faster after knocking or eliminating players, especially in Solo.
Considering the season has only been out for a few days, we may get another balance update soon. The new minigun has been very popular so far in the season, and the latest buff might make it more powerful than Epic intended.
The next major Fortnite update is scheduled for Tuesday, August 26.
