Fortnite is arguably the most popular game in the world, and it is constantly evolving thanks to frequent updates and changes from Epic Games. Right now we are in the midst of Chapter 5 Season 3 with Metallica music for all to enjoy. While we have all been headbanging and playing air guitar to classic Metallica tunes, Epic has introduced a massive change that Fortnite fans have dubbed a “huge W”.
There is a lot to anticipate in the world of Fortnite. We’re still eagerly awaiting the leaked Pirates of the Caribbean crossover, meanwhile, many rare items are set to return to the item shop. As for Season 4, all leaks point to another crossover with MARVEL, and the first leaked Season 4 skin shows a new superhero who has never stepped foot into Epic Games’ battle royale before.
While new content is always exciting, Epic has just introduced a massive change to Fortnite that will have significant implications for tournaments in the future.
Epic removes region-locking from Fortnite tournaments
On Twitter, FNCompetitive has announced that region-lock has been removed from all Fortnite tournaments. This applies to all tournaments in the future along with this season’s ongoing competitions.
The only thing region-locking has not been removed from is FCNS. No explanation has been provided as to why Epic have removed region-locking now, but, if you previously participated in an event for one region, you can play in other regions for said same event.
This is fantastic news for the Fortnite community. Previously, tournaments have been restricted to regions such as Europe and North America. However, now you are able to play tournaments in any region you want.
Being able to participate in a tournament multiple times in multiple regions will provide increased opportunities for players to win money and other rewards. This will apply to solo tournaments along with duos and any other event Epic conducts.
Reacting to the news, most of the Fortnite community are extremely happy with the update. In the replies, users have called it a “huge W” and all other comments share the sentiment that this is fantastic news from Epic.
