Downloading Fortnite updates can be time-consuming, especially for players who don’t have a decent internet connection. Updates are generally released during downtime, allowing players to download them before the game servers go up. However, the new feature allows PlayStation and Xbox users to download updates before they even come out!

Starting with Fortnite Chapter 6 – Season 2, millions of console users are able to pre-download updates. This means they can grab the new update before it comes out for other platforms.

Is it possible to pre-download Fortnite updates on PlayStation and Xbox?

For now, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PlayStation 5 users can pre-download updates for Fortnite. Epic Games announced this 10 hours before the release of a new season, allowing players to prepare for its release. The process is very simple and takes less than a minute.

Xbox users can already pre-download the upcoming update by going into My Games & Apps > Manage > Updates.

The initial process for PlayStation 5 is slightly longer, as players need to first enable internet connection while the console is in Rest Mode. After that, they need to go to Settings > Saved Data and Game/App Settings > Automatic Updates, and also enable Auto-Download and Auto-Install in Rest Mode.

At the moment, this feature is only available on three consoles. However, considering Epic Games’ effort to improve Fortnite, we expect it to soon come to PC and PlayStation 4 as well. Nintendo Switch and mobile players may also get this feature in the future.

The release date and time of Fortnite Chapter 6 – Season 2 have been confirmed by Epic. The season will come out on Friday at 2 AM Eastern Time, but it won’t be available until servers go back up.
