Fortnite has been around long enough to amass a player base of millions around the world who put in the hours to play the game for various reasons. Some enjoy the art style, another enjoys the weapons, while some are drawn to the lore and collaborations.
However, players who put in the hours every day and grind the game for XP and ranks to advance have disclosed one of the main reasons they continue to play Epic’s Battle Royale title. While the reason is apparent, it comes as a surprise to many Fortnite OGs who have been playing since the beginning.
“Zero Build is the best thing Epic has done to Fortnite”, say players
Fortnite players have revealed one of the major reasons they play the game is because of the Zero Build Battle Royale mode. Epic launched Zero Build in Chapter 3 Season 2 when the Imagined Order took over the island and Fortnite disabled builds in the core BR mode for a couple of weeks until Zero Build became its own mode.
Ever since then, the mode has attracted a huge number of newer players who shied away from playing Fortnite due to its building mechanics and sweats cranking 90s in every lobby. Zero Build allowed them more freedom to engage more in strategy and gunplay, rather than having to worry about taking the high ground over their enemy.
Players who agreed with the sentiment of the Reddit user who posted his opinion turned in their thoughts, where one said, “Old people like me play zero build. We have enough purchasing power to buy stupid skins. They would never remove zero build.”
Another user wrote, “Literally the only reason I even considered playing.” A third one commented, “This mode turned me into a fan. I was the biggest hater on this game now I’m over 200 hrs into and I’m having so much fun.”
Zero Build is currently available in both Reload and Battle Royale game modes, alongside Ranked versions as well. However, players are also hoping Epic to organize more Zero Build competitive tournaments and a separate cup during FNCS to allow casuals to participate and compete as well which would then even the level-playing field.
