The Fortnite OG map is currently playable in the popular videogame. Epic Games took the game back to the past, bringing the Chapter 1 map back. However, this will be the shortest season in the history of Fortnite, as it is scheduled to end in early December.
Thanks to the brief return of the original map, Fortnite’s popularity skyrocketed once again. Just one day after the release of the season, the game broke the record for the most players in a single day. Considering that Fortnite is in its seventh year, this is very impressive.
However, many players are wondering if the OG map will be removed after this season.
The Fortnite OG map will likely stay in the game, here’s why
Before the Fortnite OG map even returned, a reputable leaker posted an interesting detail about its future. According to Egyptian Fortnite Leaker on X, the original map will be available separately as an editable island in Fortnite Creative. Due to this, the map will likely stay in the game.
Considering how powerful UEFN (Unreal Editor for Fortnite) is, talented creators will be able to create amazing maps with this template. Furthermore, there’s a good chance that Epic Games will keep the map in the Battle Royale mode as well.
The game developer is well aware of the fact that Fortnite is back at its peak. Due to this, removing the OG map certainly wouldn’t be a great idea. However, Epic has also teased Fortnite Chapter 5, and it appears that we will get a lot of new content from it, including two new game modes.
With the OG Season ending in less than three weeks, we’ll probably get more information about the original map soon. In the meantime, the map will go through a few more changes. The next change will bring Season 7 and 8. The final week of the season will have Season X and another big live event.
