Many Fortnite creators have gotten into legal trouble recently. Epic Games started taking action against deceptive creators, taking down their islands and banning them from the game. The game developer also announced a couple of improvements that will come soon, which will make Fortnite even better.

As many players are already aware, Epic pays map creators handsomely for their islands. The company shares 40% of its net revenue with creators, and some of them have already made millions with their creations. Unfortunately, a handful of Fortnite map makers have tried to take advantage of the engagement payout system, which has gotten them into legal trouble.

Epic uses a specific formula to calculate earnings for every map creator. The formula heavily depends on the island engagement, which means that the more players spend time on an island, the more the island creator will earn.

Lately, some map creators have inflated their island stats, which is why Epic Games decided to do something about it. These map creators used bots to manipulate player engagement and earn more money, but their plan has backfired.

“We are taking legal action against two UEFN developers who used bots to inflate their player counts,” Fortnite announced on X. “We also took down their islands and they are banned from Fortnite. Manipulating player engagement breaks our rules and will not be tolerated.”

This is fantastic news for all map creators who follow the rules, as it means that their payouts will be slightly bigger. In addition to this announcement, Epic revealed that the discovery tabs will be improved to prevent spam maps from appearing in them. The developer will release more information on this later this week.
