Balance changes are never fun in Fortnite when things get removed or nerfed during an action-packed season. Throughout the ongoing Marvel season, Epic has vaulted, unvaulted, and nerfed a bunch of weapons to make the gameplay fair for both casuals and competitive players.
However, with the release of the new Fortnitemares update, multiple changes to the loot pool and gameplay have been made which were well received. Now Epic has once again released a hotfix to remove an overpowered item that was allowing players to run rampant across the island and get free kills, which is the War Machine’s Hover Jets.
Fortnite hotfix vaults War Machine’s Hover Jets and brings back another Marvel item
In a hotfix released on October 14, Fortnite removed the War Machine’s Hover Jets from the loot pool and unvaulted Shuri Claws just two days after it was vaulted with the release of Fortnitemares 2024.
Epic has also swapped the Kickstart Quest from ‘Collect War Machine’s Arsenal’ to ‘Eliminate opponents with assault rifles’ and auto-completed the Story Quest to ‘Deal damage while hovering’. During the hotfix, Epic also disabled the Chainsaw’s Sprint Attack due to an exploit that players were using to damage enemies while their sprint bar was still recharging.
Furthermore, some are assuming the removal of Hover Jets was done due to another exploit that Fortnite players had been employing to eliminate their opponents with the Chainsaw sprint while still hovering in the air.
This decision was well-received by players as several complained about the overpowered jets allowing certain loopers to dominate Battle Royale lobbies. One such player said, “Good change! The Fortnitemares-themed items were useless against the Hover Jet!”
However, some thought the Hover Jets gave them a “fighting chance” against cheaters with aimbot. As of yet, there’s no info on whether the jets will return before the season wraps up on November 2, so keep a watch on our full list of vaulted and unvaulted items to stay updated.
