Fortnite is full of surprises. The video game has been out for more than seven years and has received tons of new features throughout this period. Epic Games has worked hard on it, and as a result, the game has millions of daily active users. Due to this, it’s no surprise that the development team intends to keep releasing new features and improving the game.
One of the new features was recently revealed by Epic. The feature was supposed to come out in the next season, but the game developer postponed it. To make things worse, this is not a short delay but a significant one. Instead of November 2024, the feature is now set to arrive between July and September 2024.
The amazing Fortnite feature was delayed for 2025
Fortnite players aren’t too happy about the size of the game. In certain scenarios, it weighs more than 100 gigabytes, which is not ideal. Even though modern gaming systems have one terabyte of storage or more, allocating 10 to 15% of it to a single game is a head-scratcher. Fortunately, Epic has a solution for this problem.

The development team is working on a thin client for Fortnite. This means that players will be able to download the most basic version of the game which includes the lobby. After this, there will be an option to download additional game modes, such as LEGO Fortnite, Battle Royale, Rocket Racing, and others. This will drastically reduce the size of the client, most likely by up to even 80%.
While this feature was supposed to come out with the next Fortnite season on October 2, Epic postponed it. According to Hypex, the game developer now intends to ship the feature in the third quarter of 2025. The good news is that Epic will likely release a basic version of this feature next season, as the post on X (formerly Twitter) about it has not been deleted.
