Fortnite has had many controversies over the past few years. However, the situation has become a lot worse in the last couple of days. Since Epic Games fired more than 800 employees, many players have been worried about the future of the popular video game.

Epic fired 16% of its workforce last week but has done a few more controversial things since then. First, the game creator released a controversial item to the Item Shop, then the company changed Fortnite’s official website. The last change has caused a lot of backlash, and players are not happy about it.

Will the video game publisher revert the latest change? We’ll have to wait and see.

The latest Fortnite change has caused a lot of controversy

One of the reasons for Epic Games’ layoffs is the focus on Creative mode. While this mode has been very successful so far, it hasn’t been very profitable for the company. According to the email by Tim Sweeney, the company’s founder and CEO, Creative mode has a smaller profit margin than Battle Royale.

This comes as no surprise considering that Epic shares 40% of its net revenue with map creators. Unfortunately, many players are disappointed with the selection of Creative maps. Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) offers numerous development tools, yet most of the maps are dull or duplicates.

Despite the lower profit margin, it appears that Epic Games will keep its focus on the Creative mode. The official website of Fortnite recently received a redesign, as the game developer added several sections of the Creative mode. Naturally, players did not like this.

The main complaint players have is that the website looks like Roblox. While UEFN has many capabilities, many creators use it to create similar maps for quick money. However, we are hoping that Epic Games will do something about this in the future and avoid more Fortnite controversies.
